Segment: Focusing on the Whole Patient, not the Hole in the Patient

13:00 - 17:00

The hardest questions in medicine – and the ones that matter the most - often don’t have a right answer. As the largest organ of the body the skin is likely to fail when other organs are failing. Difficult decisions about debridement, wound care, pain control, antibiotics and repositioning require a team approach. Using a case-based approach, this session will explore the definition of skin failure, how to approach difficult conversations about wounds, removing guilt and blame, and how to decide whether the care plan is just enough or too much.
